Ceranchia apollina is a unique Saturniidae species from Madagascar. The cocoons are composed of a beautiful strong and golden silk. The adult moths will emerge in around 3-6 weeks, their are known to be very stable and their hatching time is quite unpredictable. Pairing is achieved in medium size cages with ease. Rearing caterpillars in captivity is a long shot due to the lack of a good host plant to rear them. Definitely a challenge for amateur breeders.
