Start your experience with the breeding of Vanessa cardui, a spectacular migratory butterfly capable of flying hundreds of kilometers.
Follow these simple instructions and you will be able to observe the growth of the caterpillars and the process of metamorphosis directly at home.
The duration of the experience is about three weeks: one week for the caterpillars to grow and two weeks for the chrysalis to develop. These timings are approximate and may vary depending on temperature. The warmer it is, the faster the cycle will be.
The kit contains 5 Vanessa cardui caterpillars that feed on a pre-prepared diet inside the breeding cup. No additional food is required.
If you want to keep the adult butterflies, feed them and watch them fly at home, we recommend purchasing our Butterfly Habitat, where the chrysalises can emerge and you can raise the adult butterflies.
