Eurycantha insularis is a fascinating tropical stick insect species appreciated for its strong body, impressive spines, and prehistoric appearance. This species is considered very easy to keep and is an excellent choice for both beginners and experienced phasmid breeders. Its care requirements are very similar to those of Eurycantha calcarata, although Eurycantha insularis usually remains slightly smaller in size and is often regarded as even easier to manage in captivity.

Adult females can reach around 11–13 cm, while males stay smaller and slimmer. Like other members of the genus, they are mainly nocturnal and become most active during the evening hours.
