We’re offering hybrid eggs obtained from the following cross, adults paired spontaneously. Images shown are representative of the two lines used.
–Samia cynthia (M). Stunning wild male from Lombardia, Italy.
–Samia ricini (F). Perfect female from the largest ricini strain on the web.
Both lines are though to be the best available on the market.
Limited amount of eggs available. Offspring should show mixed features of both species and we do expect them being very large size and interfertile. Caterpillars may show an high degree of color variability.

Samia ricini, a member of the Saturniidae family, is the perfect species to start with. It is very easy to rear and breed and produces quality white silk, that can be valuable for homemade spinning. The strain that we sell is the among the biggest captive strain on the market, adults up to 16cm wingspan. Samia cynthia is a wild species of Samia which has been introduced and established in north Italy.

Eggs are usually shipped into small plastic tubes. Once received, they need to be moved to a bigger container, allowing caterpillars to have enough space to hatch and move.
